I'm a mom to one precious little boy, and I discovered Stroller Strides while on maternity leave. I've always been a fan of healthy living, and I instantly fell in love with the idea that I could get a workout, meet other moms interested in a healthy lifestyle AND spend time with my baby boy. I find it boring to workout alone but I LOVE working out in a group environment. I can't believe all the inspiring and motivating mommas I've met already! In addition to FIT4MOM, I run a healthy eating food blog, Healthy Recipe Ecstasy.
I began my journey with FIT4MOM in Tampa, Florida when I was pregnant with our son, Henry (now 15 months). I continued going to classes after he was born and it was the best thing I did as a new mama. Not only was I able to work on getting my body back and maintaining the healthy lifestyle I had pre-baby (hard to do!), I made a village of mom friends I will hold close to my heart forever. Since relocating to D.C. in June, I was so excited to hear of Michelle starting the FIT4MOM franchise in Capitol Hill. I am thrilled to expose this amazing company to all of the motivated mamas and lovable babies in the District. As a soon-to-be Doula and current FIT4MOM instructor, I hope to inspire, empower and educate women on how to take the time they deserve to actively work on creating a healthy lifestyle in their role as "mama". I grew up playing and loving team sports but didn't realize my love of group fitness until adding yoga and spin classes to my slightly boring running routine of several years ago. I started going to Stroller Strides while on maternity leave and loved getting out of the house, meeting other mamas and finding that balance of doing something for myself with Eloise in tow. Needless to say, I was thrilled to find that Eloise also enjoyed going to class! Now 12 months, Eloise still loves watching all the mamas singing and acting silly. I'm thrilled to be teaching and only wish there had been a Fit4Baby class while I was pregnant with Eloise!
I have always enjoyed the group classes at my local gym, but after becoming a mom it became inconvenient. Instead of the gym I would take my son, William, running in a jogger, but knew if I wanted to be more physically fit I would have to add more strength training. This led me to Fit4Mom and after the first class I was instantly addicted! I continued to take classes over the next few months, then I was offered the opportunity to become an instructor and I knew that was the perfect fit for me. I have loved meeting new moms and their babies, helping empower myself and these mothers to get active and have a great time!
I played soccer and was physically active for most of my life but I had a hard time getting back into shape after my daughter, Elle, was born. I hadn't exercised during my pregnancy and I had a rough post-birth recovery. Fortunately, I discovered Stroller Strides and I loved everything about it. I found that exercise not only makes me healthier and stronger, it makes me a better mom. When I was pregnant with my son Jackson, I continued going to Stroller Strides and Fit4Baby classes. After he was born, I was able to jump right back into exercise, and I am so excited to continue with FIT4MOM as an instructor.more
I have always been a long distance runner, but during the pregnancy of my son, I realized I needed to find other ways to move and strengthen my body. I discovered Fit4baby during my 7th month of pregnancy and was hooked! I even attended Stroller Strides while pregnant, and I jumped right back into class at 6 weeks postpartum. Not only did I get great workouts during these classes, but I also met some of my closest mom friends. It is truly a special community of moms and children! I am so excited to continue my FIT4MOM journey as an instructor and hope to inspire many more moms along the way.
I love taking fitness classes, but as a working mom, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to work out and spend enough quality time with my baby girl. I was also a little overwhelmed with the new mom learning curve, and had NO idea where I could find the resources to deal with sleepless nights, back to work blues, or just commiserate over the latest diaper blowout.
I started working out with FIT4MOM when my baby girl was just 9 weeks, and discovered that each class provides me with the perfect balance of a high intensity workout, quality time with baby, and an opportunity to get to know other moms in my neighborhood (and speed up the mom learning curve!). I love that going to a one hour fitness class can check off 3 of my goals at once!
I joined the team as an instructor because I’m passionate about creating an atmosphere where moms and moms-to-be can THRIVE physically, socially and emotionally. It truly does take a village to raise a child, and I hope you and your family will join ours!more
Jordan, is a Florida native, by way of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She enjoys a wide variety of fitness activities including: running, swimming, and any and all team sports. Jordan started with FIT4MOM as a client in 2012, and later became an owner/instructor of the Ann Arbor location. When her family relocated to the DC area, Jordan returned to the classroom where she is a high school math teacher, and is thrilled to be able to continue supporting FIT4MOM as a substitute instructor for the Capitol Hill location.more
I love combining fitness into family life. FIT4MOM has given me a great opportunity to do that on a whole new platform. As an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Pre- and Post-Natal Corrective Exercise Specialist, I am passionate about empowering women through strength training. Fitness is a huge part of my life and has been throughout college and my 8 years in the Air Force; confidence in the gym translates to confidence to many aspects of a woman’s life. Functional strength training is even more necessary these days for Mamas on the physical, emotional and psychological levels! I found FIT4MOM Capitol Hill when I first moved to DC and knew immediately I wanted to connect with the Team. BodyBack is a great program and I am proud to be part of it. It combines everything I love: free weights, HIIT, and bodyweight training into workouts. As a mom of 2 girls, I believe that leading a fit life should be fun, effective and family-friendly. I loves building BodyBack workouts/programs that not only meet my clients’ needs and goals, but improve their quality of life and family life in the long term.
